Presidential
Power in a Time of Terror"

Frederick A.O. Schwartz,
Sr. Counsel at the Brennan Ctr. for Justice, NYU School of Law and
former Chief Counsel, Church Committee Invest. in the 1970's
and

Saturday, July 19, 2008, 9:00 to Noon
Capitol Lakes (formerly Meriter Maingate)
333 W. Main Street, Madison
Madison attorney and TMI Board Member Fred Wade will
provide a review of this book, continuing our focus on abuses of
executive power.
The
book is a story of how the President, acting unilaterally, has
violated, ignored and rewritten laws enacted by Congress. In this
respect, it covers some of the same ground as "Takeover," the
subject of the January PRT, but offers more background concerning
the Church Committee and the constitutional history of England that
led to the adoption of the legislative processes and individual
rights that Americans consider basic.
(free parking available at ramp across the street)
This presentation will be followed by
group discussion.
Free and open to
the public
